Video still from Sonic Cinema

Exiled from a Land of Images: Sonic Cinema is a sound installation composed of three asynchronous audio layers developed in relation to Jean-Luc Godard's Histoire(s) du cinéma, Michael Snow's La Région Centrale, and the writings of Walter Benjamin. Detached from their original visual contexts, the sounds overlap and separate unpredictably, shifting according to the listener's position and moment of arrival. The work approaches film sound as an auditory remainder: a fragment through which absent images may be remembered or reimagined.
